When It All Connects

I love it when I do multiple things, pull cards from multiple decks, or different kinds of decks and the whole world just connects itself to the energy. It has not been an easy start to the year 2020. With the word of the year being LOOK, and me taking the time to really look at what is around me, and within me, I realized how much work there is. That of course overwhelmed me, so I had to pull back and think a little about how to approach it all. Today was the first day I pulled any cards. … Continue reading When It All Connects

My Word for 2020!

Yes I know it is the trend, but I love the trend. No resolutions, although I have some goals (pretty typical ones), but I also have the word I will be keeping close to me. My word: LOOK You’re saying “What?! Heather you are crazy, how is that even a word to choose from?” Well I am here to tell you why it is what I think is going to be a great word for me. LOOK is so much more than just using your eyes. When we want someone to explain their feelings, or search for what is going … Continue reading My Word for 2020!

Who Are You?

As we sit in our offices, on our couches, in our cars, at our desks, we define ourselves in different ways. These are often simple masks we wear to fit what it is others expect of us, or that we must project based on the situation. All totally understandable, but what happens when you begin to lose who you are to these masks? When you forget to take one mask off before donning another, and they blend to a point where you can’t get out from under either? These are scary questions, as I often feel this way. I have … Continue reading Who Are You?

Working With Teenagers

Some days working with teenagers invigorates me and creates a sense of energy that I can use to get through several days, other times working with teenagers drains me of the energy I had to make it to the next day, leaving exhausted for days on end. Every day working with teenagers I learn something about them, myself, and the world. High school students have a unique perspective on what is happening in the world, their lives, the classroom, and even, yes, their teachers’ lives. They bring such a different look into what is going on. Today my students are … Continue reading Working With Teenagers

Productivity

In short, I feel most productive when… If you had to answer that what would your answer be? Would it be when all the tasks are done? When you are actively doing something on the to be done list? When your body is moving? When your brain is moving? I have realized that I don’t really know what the word means to me. One of the questions on the #highperformanceplanner from #brendonburchard is “If one word could describe the type of person you want to be today [sic]”…and I tend to write productive…and then for the question about how I … Continue reading Productivity

The Human Experience

We are so much more than our bodies. Yes, I said it. I know that it is difficult to believe, and hard to remember, but it is true. Our bodies carry our spirits and our spirits are here to learn. We are having a human experience, to grow within. These emotions, these experiences help us to become the people we want to be, will help to create the peace within that we are searching for. Sometimes, it is difficult. When your body hurts, when you have a headache, or something isn’t functioning right it is difficult to remember that we … Continue reading The Human Experience

I Control My Perspective

What I see, how I see it, what is makes me feel/think, that is all within my control. There is nothing buy my own thoughts, feelings, and look on the world that tells me how to see something, except of course when I allow those things to jade me. We often want others to tell us what they see, or to let us know when we see something different. The problem with that is that it can skew our own perception, influencing us to see things that aren’t there, or that aren’t accurate. When we rely on our own instincts, … Continue reading I Control My Perspective

Reminders…already

Today was the first day back to the real job, no students yet, but here I am, fixing up the classroom and getting ready. I teach at a school that is on a 4×4 block, meaning I have all new kids tomorrow, and new classes. So daunting to have two first days in a school year, but I’ve doing this for 7 years now, and getting used to the daunting is old hat. What I am also used to is the apathy and blah I feel when it is time, after the break, to come back. This has, unfortunately led … Continue reading Reminders…already

Create Your Own Reality…and then live it

Often times we are told how we should live, where we should work, what is right for us, without anyone checking in on what it is we want. We allow others to create the reality that we live in, with little or no input from us. This is often the case with those who follow a “different” path in religion or beliefs. It is difficult when one does not “conform” to the holidays or the calendars of the societal norm. As we approach the season of Yule, I am often reminded of how intolerant and selfish others are. They focus … Continue reading Create Your Own Reality…and then live it

Creating Relationships

As an empath the two words of the title make me cringe.  People are scary.  You never know what they are going through, what is happening or has happened to them and their emotions can be overwhelming.  Weird, you may say, for someone who teaches high school to be an empath.  I won’t say weird, just…difficult, daily. I have been lucky enough with my schooling at Sacred Mists to learn how to effectively shield (when I remember) and even when I don’t, how to off the emotions quickly with walks outside, and grounding.  These have become especially important as the … Continue reading Creating Relationships
