My Word for 2020!

Yes I know it is the trend, but I love the trend. No resolutions, although I have some goals (pretty typical ones), but I also have the word I will be keeping close to me. My word: LOOK You’re saying “What?! Heather you are crazy, how is that even a word to choose from?” Well I am here to tell you why it is what I think is going to be a great word for me. LOOK is so much more than just using your eyes. When we want someone to explain their feelings, or search for what is going … Continue reading My Word for 2020!

End of Year Reflection (short)

As I was recovering from the flu/pneumonia bout, I went back to work as it was close to finals and I was starting to miss those Seniors. In the process, they brought germs! So I was sick again. However, as I sit here over break I find that I am almost ready to recover. I need a little more sleep, a little more down time, and some more restful moments, but then I will be ready to take on 2020! I already have topics planned, for the days I am not using a daily draw card, but I am planning … Continue reading End of Year Reflection (short)

New Adventures

I am excited to be back writing, growing, and feeling like me.  It has been a long season as my children had to find themselves, causing heartache and growing pains alike. One of the things I had promised myself was after I was feeling stable, I would begin here.  Once a week to start, as I am just getting myself back from being overly invested in a number of things and losing myself to them. I actually took a day off work two weeks ago to simply clean my room and bathroom.  I was hoping to get the whole house … Continue reading New Adventures

Working With Teenagers

Some days working with teenagers invigorates me and creates a sense of energy that I can use to get through several days, other times working with teenagers drains me of the energy I had to make it to the next day, leaving exhausted for days on end. Every day working with teenagers I learn something about them, myself, and the world. High school students have a unique perspective on what is happening in the world, their lives, the classroom, and even, yes, their teachers’ lives. They bring such a different look into what is going on. Today my students are … Continue reading Working With Teenagers

The Human Experience

We are so much more than our bodies. Yes, I said it. I know that it is difficult to believe, and hard to remember, but it is true. Our bodies carry our spirits and our spirits are here to learn. We are having a human experience, to grow within. These emotions, these experiences help us to become the people we want to be, will help to create the peace within that we are searching for. Sometimes, it is difficult. When your body hurts, when you have a headache, or something isn’t functioning right it is difficult to remember that we … Continue reading The Human Experience

Reminders…already

Today was the first day back to the real job, no students yet, but here I am, fixing up the classroom and getting ready. I teach at a school that is on a 4×4 block, meaning I have all new kids tomorrow, and new classes. So daunting to have two first days in a school year, but I’ve doing this for 7 years now, and getting used to the daunting is old hat. What I am also used to is the apathy and blah I feel when it is time, after the break, to come back. This has, unfortunately led … Continue reading Reminders…already

Happy Friday!

We have made it through the week!  Congratulations. Today’s oils are anxiety ease and breathe easier.  The kids are doing presentations so keeping their anxiety to a minimum and helping them take deep breaths is in order. These are blends created by Eden’s Garden.  Anxiety ease is a balanced mixture of Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang and Lemongrass.   Breathe Easier  is a healing mixture of Lemon, Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Rosemary. The two blend so well together and the classroom smells amazing. (Eden’s Garden) The diffuser not only helps them, but it keeps any anxiety I might be having at bay as well.  I … Continue reading Happy Friday!

I Did It!

Merry Meet!! I hope your Monday is going well.  Over the weekend I managed to get the meditation/altar/exercise space cleaned and I sorted through all my clothes and got rid of 4 bags of stuff.  I am sure there is more I can do, but for now it is a start. Everything isn’t all organized yet, that’s for the next couple of evenings when hubby is at work.  However, there is a start, and clean space on the floor, which means I can at least keep moving, get grounded and return to a state of being me. This is important! … Continue reading I Did It!

I Hate Lavender

Now most people would say that is a heavy statement.  I use the word hate, which of course is strong language and I could tone it down I suppose.  If I did tone it down, however, it would not convey the absolute loathing I feel when the perfumes, heavily scented with the frangrant flower billow over my senses. By now you are wondering why I even stated this.  Why should you care?  You should care because this is a post about essential oils.  And no matter who you are, lavender is at the core of essential oils.  Not the lavender … Continue reading I Hate Lavender
