I Did It!

Merry Meet!! I hope your Monday is going well.  Over the weekend I managed to get the meditation/altar/exercise space cleaned and I sorted through all my clothes and got rid of 4 bags of stuff.  I am sure there is more I can do, but for now it is a start. Everything isn’t all organized yet, that’s for the next couple of evenings when hubby is at work.  However, there is a start, and clean space on the floor, which means I can at least keep moving, get grounded and return to a state of being me. This is important! … Continue reading I Did It!

Meditation

We all know we should, even if it isn’t part of a religious practice, it is now common knowledge that meditation, or purposeful breathing, is a practice every person should put into their day for at least 15 minutes. The Mayo Clinic says “The emotional benefits of meditation can include: Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations Building skills to manage your stress Increasing self-awareness Focusing on the present Reducing negative emotions Increasing imagination and creativity Increasing patience and tolerance”. (https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/meditation/in-depth/meditation/art-20045858) Meditation is a simple practice in its purpose.  It simply helps us keep grounded and do a check in with … Continue reading Meditation

Weekend Work

While binge watching Grimm on Amazon and Playoff Football on network TV (with antennae) I managed to get 90% of my kitchen re-organized and cleaned. The coffee mugs and spices cupboard are left to organize and the stove top is left to clean. Anyone who knows me is aware of what a Herculean task this was. My oldest step-son came out of his cave for sustenance, blinked and said ” we have counter space, everywhere”. I responded “lets try to keep it that way” to which of course I received a blank stare back. I also made super yummy homemade … Continue reading Weekend Work

Friday Musings

So today, here in Northern California, it is a blustery day.  One that reminds me of the 100 Acre Woods with blowing winds and pouring rains and puddles, and pile ups.  Winnie and the 100 Acre Woods is one of my favorite escape places.  Eeyore is my soul-buddy.  We have a lot in common.  These days though, just like Eeyore, I perk right up.  Just another day, but the wind is energizing and washes away the cares. One of the great things is that each of the Cardinal Directions (North, South, East, West) also has an element associated with it. … Continue reading Friday Musings

Crystals…

or rocks as my husband calls them. Anyone else have a passion/obsession for collecting the most gorgeous nature made products on the planet?  I am sitting at my desk at school while the kids take a test and I realized I have 1/4 of my desk filled with different crystals that work well for classrooms. Let’s start with the obvious one.  Selenite.  I have an 18″ non-polished rod of it sitting across the front of my desk.  Why?  Well it is great for helping students focus.  The properties of Selenite include: adaptability, calm, clarity, communication, emotions, harmony, respect and peace … Continue reading Crystals…

Esbats

What???!!! Huh???!!! That’s not a word Heather.  You’re making stuff up.  LOL. Nope.  Esbats, the ritual used to celebrate the Full and New Moons each month. For the longest time at Sacred Mists I got to write them and then hold the rituals.  I loved that.  I still get to do the solitary rituals, as we post those on months where there are Sabbats (major Pagan holidays). I don’t write and hold the Esbats anymore because now I facilitate the program and help others grow by writing their own and hosting the rituals.  Growth is a necessity. So what is … Continue reading Esbats

Creating Relationships

As an empath the two words of the title make me cringe.  People are scary.  You never know what they are going through, what is happening or has happened to them and their emotions can be overwhelming.  Weird, you may say, for someone who teaches high school to be an empath.  I won’t say weird, just…difficult, daily. I have been lucky enough with my schooling at Sacred Mists to learn how to effectively shield (when I remember) and even when I don’t, how to off the emotions quickly with walks outside, and grounding.  These have become especially important as the … Continue reading Creating Relationships

Family Time

What today’s blog is really meant to do is to remind us all that life happens. It is okay if something gets bumped a little. Sometimes family needs to be in front of everything, because it can’t wait. In those times, that is what we need to do. It is just the fun, created family time that is needed. When family says TIME, it will push its way forward and into whatever else you have planned and you need to listen. Continue reading Family Time

Working and “Working”

So today I wanted to take a moment to address those who take on much,  not necessarily  too much, but maybe sometimes we take it all on.  I know that I work full-time as a high school teacher, who gives my personal number to the kids and other teachers, as well as email of course. I am also part of an amazing online magickal school, Sacred Mists. I have been a part of Sacred Mists for 6 years.  I have completed my Level One and Level Two Priestess courses and am currently working on my Level Three.  With that … Continue reading Working and “Working”

Pressing On…

Today is the 4th…and it is the day where most have already hit the wall. Change is hard, sustained change is a challenge.  We all want to be the best us we can be. There is no doubt about that, but finding out who that is, what it looks like and then becoming that person, wow… difficult. One step at a time.  That is all any of us can do.  I talked yesterday about feeling falsely successful, and thinking enough.  Today is the day where you look beyond that and continue forward.  You press on with the change you want … Continue reading Pressing On…
